Naked In The Dark

I lie naked in the dark
A bird with broken wings
Once I soared up high into the sky
Now I crawl crippled on the ground.

No fire can warm my cold limbs
And yet a flaming heat consumes me.
My eyes are blinded by the light
And all I perceive is darkness.

My body and mind are tormented
I cannot fulfill my task
Hope and will are beyond reach
And memory is beyond recall.
